Greek Orthodox Church commemorates Saints Martha and Mary on June 4

The Orthodox Church honors Thursday, June 4, as the feast day of Saints Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus who appear in the New Testament. The celebration highlights Martha’s service and hospitality and Mary’s spiritual devotion, recalling the miracle of their brother’s resurrection.

The service also commemorates Saint Metrophanes, regarded as the first bishop and later archbishop of Constantinople in the 4th century, celebrated for his wisdom and faith. Both the saints are venerated as "Myrofanies" for their steadfast commitment to Christ.
