Greek Orthodox Festivities Honor Saint Paraskevi in Mesolongi and Patra

Greek Orthodox communities marked the feast of Saint Paraskevi with elaborate cultural and religious events in two historic towns. In Mesolongi, the Holy Temple of Saint Paraskevi hosted a music‑dance celebration on the evening of 18 July 2026, featuring traditional dances from various regions, performances by the Lyceum of Hellenic Women of Acharna, and accompaniment by the SibeMoria orchestra. The program highlighted local heritage, including the “Children of Samarina” hymn and dances from Epirus.

Meanwhile, in Patra, a series of multi‑day religious services and cultural activities began on 23 July 2026. The schedule includes the reception of holy relics, daily liturgies, vespers, and prayers, as well as evening concerts featuring Pontic singer Thofilos Poutachidis and other performers. The events, organized by the Patra Cultural Association, continue through 28 July, combining worship with traditional music and dance.

Both celebrations aim to preserve and showcase regional customs while honoring the saint’s legacy.
