Greek Orthodox Metropolises hold youth ministry conferences

Greek Orthodox Metropolises in Aetolia and Acarnania, and Demetrias and Almou, held inaugural conferences for youth ministry leaders and catechists on September 27, 2026.

In Aetolia and Acarnania, Metropolitan Damaskinos emphasized that catechesis is a fundamental mission of the Church, focusing on the continuous training of priests and catechists. A presentation by Professor Maria Rantzou explored the importance of self-knowledge for catechists, linking patristic tradition with modern psychology and mindfulness.

In Demetrias and Almou, the conference at the Thessaly Conference Center prepared clergy and educators for the 2026-2027 ministry year. Discussions centered on building Christian communities, the responsible use of new technologies, managing group dynamics, and the role of the priest as a mentor. The event included reports from the Panhellenic Conference of Youth Ministry leaders.
