Greek-owned ships damaged in Persian Gulf and Black Sea

Four vessels registered under Greek ownership were hit in separate incidents in the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea. The tanker Cavos Maleas, sailing under a Maltese flag, suffered severe damage in the Persian Gulf and was abandoned by its crew. The Liberian‑flagged bulk carrier Achelous also incurred material damage in the same area.

In the Black Sea, the Maltese‑flagged vessel NISOS IOS was struck, damaging its bridge, but all seven Greek crew members remained unharmed and the ship continued under its own power toward the Bosporus. A further Liberian‑flagged tanker, Asia, was reported damaged while anchored at Novorossiysk, with no Greek crew aboard.

No casualties were reported, and the incidents highlight rising risks to commercial shipping in the region.
