Greek Parliament committee extends agricultural reform deadline

The Interparty Committee of the Greek Parliament, tasked with the restructuring of the primary sector, has decided to extend its deadline for completing work and submitting its final report to October 12, 2026.

Maximos Charakopoulos, General Secretary of the New Democracy parliamentary group, expressed hope for creative cooperation among political forces. He emphasized the need for common proposals that could bind future governments to long-term solutions for the agricultural sector, moving beyond mere observations of existing issues.

Charakopoulos noted that the committee has engaged with various stakeholders, including academic communities and international examples, with significant material processed by the Agricultural University of Athens. He acknowledged the upcoming pre-election period but stressed the importance of finding common ground to address the sector's challenges.
