Greek Parliament votes on immunity for several MPs

The Greek Parliament has voted on several requests to lift the parliamentary immunity of its members. The Assembly approved the lifting of immunity for Zoi Konstantopoulou, president of Plevesi Eleftherias, and SYRIZA MP Pavlos Polakis.

Konstantopoulou faces a lawsuit from journalist Petros Kousoulos regarding allegations of libel and defamation. Polakis is involved in a case brought by Stamatis Poulis concerning alleged false accusations.

Conversely, the Parliament rejected requests to lift the immunity of Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanasis Plevris and Minister of Development Takis Theodorakakos. Both ministers face allegations from a private individual regarding the illegal processing of personal data through unauthorized access to archiving systems. Both ministers have characterized the legal actions as politically motivated.
