Greek PASOK MP Stefanos Parastatidis demands licensing documents for private universities

PASOK‑Movement for Change MP Stefanos Parastatidis, who serves as the party’s education spokesperson, has lodged a new parliamentary question and request for documents concerning the licensing of Legal Persons of University Education (N.P.P.E.) for the years 2025 and 2026. The request follows a previous inquiry made a year earlier that received no substantive reply from the Ministry of Education.

Parastatidis asks the ministry to disclose which individuals or legal entities submitted the licensing applications, who are the actual beneficiaries of the institutions, which foreign parent universities or associated companies provided the required fees and guarantee letters, and what evidence exists of foreign universities’ participation in governance, academic supervision, quality assurance, and strategic planning. He also seeks clarification on whether the new institutions share administration, staff, services, facilities or organisational structures with existing colleges, and how ongoing compliance with licensing conditions is monitored. The MP demands that the ministry submit the full licensing decisions, educational agreements with foreign universities, accreditation reports, financial guarantees, fee receipts and related banking documents to the parliament.
