Greek Patients' Union Launches Digital Platform for Patient Organisations
On 26 May 2026 the Union of Patients of Greece announced the start of a new project – the Platform of Community of Patient Associations. The platform will provide an organised digital space where patient organisations can record issues such as access to treatments, diagnostics, primary and hospital care, financial burdens, mental‑health concerns and unequal service access, and submit evidence‑based proposals to health authorities.
Union President Memi Tsekoura said the initiative aims to give patient groups a common reference point for consistently conveying the needs of the people they represent. Program manager Fotis Spyropoulos of the Bodossaki Foundation highlighted the broader social impact beyond project metrics, while Director Natali Toupanaki and Project Manager Zoes Zoutso presented the platform’s functionality and implementation roadmap. Dr Irini Kyriakaki, Director of the Office of the General Secretary of Health Services, stressed that meaningful citizen participation requires continuous dialogue, documentation and feedback between patients, organisations and policymakers. The project, supported by the Bodossaki Foundation, is scheduled for completion in March 2027 and is expected to strengthen the link between patient experience and health‑policy formulation.
