Greek pension and rental payment reforms scheduled for 2026

The Unified Social Security Fund (e‑EFKA) will disburse September 2026 pensions on two separate days: Wednesday 26 August for non‑salaried pensioners and Friday 28 August for salaried pensioners and public‑sector retirees. Payments will appear in bank ATMs the afternoon after each date, following the standard e‑EFKA schedule.

From 1 October 2026, the Ministry of Finance mandates that all rental payments be made exclusively through bank transfers to the landlord’s account. The change, overseen by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), aims to improve tax compliance and preserve state subsidies, tax deductions and other benefits. Landlords must register their bank details with AADE, and any cash‑based rent payments after the deadline will attract penalties.
