57 Foreign Nationals Trafficked in Greece’s Eordaia‑Florina Region

Greek police carried out a coordinated operation on 31 July 2026 in the municipalities of Eordaia and Florina. The raid resulted in the arrest of a 51‑year‑old foreign suspect, identified as the “supervisor”, while a second suspect of the same age remains at large.

The investigation uncovered a human‑trafficking network that exploited 57 foreign nationals who had entered Greece in 2025. The victims handed over their passports to the suspect in exchange for a fee to obtain visas, were then housed in the area and forced to work daily. A portion of their wages was withheld each month to repay an alleged “debt”.

Charges of human trafficking, participation in a criminal organisation and violations of alien‑law statutes were filed. Authorities seized €4,360, six handwritten notes, a computerized debt‑statement document and a mobile phone from the arrested suspect. The case is being investigated by the Eordaia Crime Investigation Department in cooperation with the Kozani Crime Suppression Team.
