Greek police bust human‑trafficking ring exploiting 57 migrants in Macedonia

Greek police from the Crime Investigation Department uncovered a human‑trafficking and labour‑exploitation network operating in the Macedonia region. Two 51‑year‑old foreign men coordinated the scheme: one was arrested on 31 July 2026 in Eordaia, while the other remains at large. The perpetrators recruited 57 migrants who arrived in Greece in 2025, collected their passports, charged them fees for visa issuance and housing, and forced them to work daily, retaining part of their wages to repay the imposed “debt”. Police seized €4,360, handwritten notes and a debt‑record document during the raid. The two men face charges of aggravated human trafficking, participation in a criminal organization and violations of immigration law.
