Greek police officer kills wife in Drama and then suicides
A 50‑year‑old police officer in Drama, Greece, stabbed his wife – also a police officer – eight times in their home while their minor child watched. The child alerted authorities, and the victim died shortly after being taken to hospital. The perpetrator then fled to his car and shot himself with his service pistol.
Investigators say the murder stemmed from jealousy after the wife repeatedly requested a transfer from the city. The officer had previously filed a complaint and undergone a psychiatric evaluation, which found no concerns, and he retained his weapon. The couple had no prior reports of abuse, and the incident has shocked the Greek police force and raised concerns about domestic violence among officers.
