Greek police release suspect details in Vangelis Zampouni murder

The Hellenic Police’s Organized Crime Unit (ELAS) has made public the identity and photograph of a suspect in the killing of Vangelis Zampouni. The suspect, a Russian national named Alexey Shokpa (alias SHOKPA), aged 43, is described as a member of a criminal organization linked to the Greek Mafia. Zampouni was shot dead in the early hours of 14 January 2024 outside his fuel station in the Neo Kosmos district of Athens.

The disclosure, issued under a directive from the Athens Prosecutor’s Office, is intended to aid investigators in locating the suspect, to protect public safety and to prevent further criminal activity. Citizens are asked to contact the police at 210‑6476226 or 210‑6476232 with any information, with anonymity guaranteed. The notice is valid until 29 October 2026.
