Greek political debate intensifies over economic and education reforms
Following the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair, political discourse in Greece has centered on competing government programs and their economic feasibility. Citizens face confusion due to political toxicity and conflicting claims regarding the cost and realism of various party promises, particularly concerning social support versus fiscal discipline.
Key issues driving public concern include low purchasing power due to stagnant wages and pensions, as well as rising inflation. Amidst these debates, PASOK MP Nadia Giannakopoulou has called for a total restructuring of the education system to address gaps identified in PISA results. She highlighted critical shortages in school staffing and inadequate facilities, such as overcrowded classrooms. Additionally, Giannakopoulou emphasized the need for the immediate reinstatement of the 13th salary and improved support for full-day schooling to assist working parents.
