Greek political leaders criticize government economic and agricultural policies

In Greece, political leaders are raising concerns regarding government policy and economic management. Nikos Androulakis, leader of PASOK-Movement for Change, outlined the party’s agenda during a parliamentary group meeting. He criticized both the current government and SYRIZA, emphasizing PASOK’s focus on housing, debt restructuring, and support for island communities and fishermen. Androulakis also contested the government's narrative regarding the country's exit from the memorandum period, arguing that the reduction of the deficit was achieved through previous efforts.

Separately, MP Vasilis Metaxas has criticized the government’s handling of zoonotic diseases, specifically regarding small ruminant disease. Metaxas compared Greece’s approach to that of Romania, which has implemented a state-sponsored vaccination program using doses from the European Vaccine Bank to protect livestock and exports. He argued that the Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food’s insistence that no licensed vaccine is available, combined with strict testing protocols that lead to herd culling, is causing economic devastation for livestock farmers.
