Greek political parties prepare for 2027 national elections
As political forces in Greece begin preparing for the 2027 national elections, major parties are defining their strategies and candidate lineups. PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis has proposed several measures to combat the rising cost of living and energy crisis. His proposals include reducing the Special Consumption Tax (EFK) on fuels and heating oil, implementing a mechanism to return excess VAT revenue to consumers, and conducting systematic audits on profit margins within the supply chain. He also called for a permanent mechanism to tax the superprofits of monopolies.
Simultaneously, New Democracy is finalizing its candidate lists, particularly in the Attica region. The party aims to balance traditional supporters with centrist voters. In the Northern sector of Attica, high-profile figures such as Vice President Kostis Hatzidakis, Adonis Georgiadis, and Niki Keramei are expected to compete for top positions, with government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis also noted as a significant potential arrival.
