Greek politicians clash over warnings of Turkish aggression

Greek political tensions have escalated following statements by Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis regarding national security. Speaking on public television, Floridis warned that if Greece were to face a state of ungovernability, it would almost certainly trigger aggressive actions from Turkey. He suggested that future elections would present a dilemma between a country in national danger and a stable government.

Kostas Tsoukalas, spokesperson for the PASOK party, strongly criticized the government, accusing the New Democracy administration and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of using national issues for partisan interests. Tsoukalas described the government's stance as ‘deeply dangerous’ and ‘arrogant,’ arguing that threatening the Greek people with Turkish aggression is an unacceptable political tactic.

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis also supported the government's position, stating in a radio interview that political instability poses national risks. Georgiadis emphasized that Turkey seeks opportunities to exploit Greek political instability and argued that the only sustainable solution for the country is the self-sufficiency of the New Democracy party, ruling out coalition governments under normal circumstances.
