Greek politicians urge Trump to press Britain over Parthenon Marbles

New Democracy officials Adonis Georgiadis, vice‑president of the governing party and health minister, and Konstantinos Kyranakis, party secretary, have called on U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene with Britain to return the Parthenon (Elgin) Marbles to Greece. In interviews with the U.S. outlet Breitbart, they argued that Trump has a rare opportunity to demonstrate leadership for Western civilization and to secure a lasting legacy.

The politicians said Britain no longer blocks the return of the sculptures, which were taken by Lord Elgin in the early 19th century and are now displayed in the British Museum. They cited support from members of the Greek diaspora and business figures, urging Trump to use his influence to press the British government for the marbles' repatriation.
