Greek poultry co‑op Pindos posts 7.5% sales jump as inflation lifts retail prices

ELSTAT data for April 2026 shows Greece’s overall retail turnover rose 4% year‑on‑year while the volume of goods sold fell 0.1%, indicating that consumers are paying more for roughly the same or smaller quantities. Food‑related stores recorded a 7.1% increase in turnover but only a 4.1% rise in sales volume, and fuel stations saw turnover jump 10.4% against a 7.4% drop in volume, underscoring persistent inflationary pressure on households.

The Agricultural Poultry Cooperative Pindos, which controls about a third of the Greek chicken market, reported 2025 revenue of €414 million, up 10.58%, with EBITDA of €33.68 million and pre‑tax profit of €21.77 million. Exports reached €16.11 million, a 24% increase, and the first half of 2026 already shows a 7.5% sales rise and a 16% export uplift. The cooperative plans a €70 million investment programme for 2026‑2030 covering a new hatchery, feed‑line expansion, digitalisation, a biogas unit and additional production capacity. Recent sector moves include the acquisition of rival Nitsiakos by Ukrainian group MHP and a proposed partnership with the Arta cooperative that could push Pindos’s market share above 45%.
