Greek President Tasoulas Says Parthenon Sculptures Likely to Return
At the 52nd anniversary reception for the Restoration of Democracy held in the Presidential Mansion, President Konstantinos Tasoulas told journalists there is a "serious probability" that the Parthenon Sculptures will be returned from the United Kingdom following supportive comments by the new British prime minister.
He referred to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ statement that national elections will be held in the spring, likely in May, and reiterated Greece’s claim over the “Blue Homeland” against Turkish assertions.
Tasoulas also mentioned a discussion with party leaders about personal fitness, noted the absence of several opposition figures, and described the heavy rain that did not stop the event. Prime Minister Mitsotakis arrived alone, while other political figures such as Nikos Androulakis and Dimitris Koutsoubas were present.
