Greek Presidential Guard to skip Melbourne celebrations due to lack of funding

The Greek Presidential Guard, known as Evzones, will not participate in the October 28 celebrations in Melbourne, Australia, due to a lack of sponsors. While the unit is scheduled to visit Sydney and Canberra following successful funding arrangements, the city of Melbourne—which hosts the largest Greek diaspora in Australia—has been excluded from this year's itinerary.

According to the Greek Ambassador in Canberra and the Diplomatic Office of the Deputy Minister for Diaspora Affairs, the visits to Sydney and Canberra were made possible only after sponsors secured the necessary funding to cover the high costs associated with the deployment.
