Greek Presidential Guard visits Australia for ‘OXI’ anniversary

The Greek Presidential Guard (Evzones) has arrived in Australia to participate in commemorations for the 85th anniversary of the ‘OXI’ Day. The unit is scheduled to attend various cultural events in Sydney before traveling to Canberra on October 28.

In Sydney, the Guard performed a ceremonial guard of honor at the Martin Place Cenotaph, a memorial dedicated to Australian service members. The visit is hosted by the Hellenic Club Sydney with support from the New South Wales Government as part of a week of Hellenic celebrations.

Other scheduled activities include a visit to St Spyridon College in Kingsford for a doxology and a reception at the New South Wales Parliament. The visit aims to highlight the enduring historical and cultural ties between Greece and Australia.
