Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announces completion of land‑registry reform

The Greek government held a live event at the Athens Concert Hall to present the final phase of the country's land‑registry reform. Organized by the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence together with the Hellenic Land Registry, the forum was attended by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Chatzidakis, Environment Minister Stavros Papastavrou and other senior officials. Mitsotakis said the project “that seemed impossible is finally being completed” and declared that “a 200‑year backlog has been solved.” He highlighted that 99 % of the national territory is now digitised and that full completion is expected by 2026, backed by the EU Recovery Fund. The reform is intended to provide transparent, fast and secure property records, boost investment and facilitate urban planning. The next steps include transferring building‑permit administration to the land registry and further modernising zoning rules, with a target to address remaining issues by 2030.
