Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis grapples with internal party turmoil and poll lead

A new poll conducted from July 20‑23 shows the governing New Democracy (ND) party maintaining a solid lead of about 14 percentage points over the opposition ELAS, with support just above the symbolic 30% threshold. The survey indicates that roughly two‑thirds of voters expect an ND victory in the next election.

At the same time, the government appears to be losing control of its own ranks. Senior figures within ND, including members of the Maximos faction, are challenging the leadership amid renewed scandals and unresolved legal cases such as the Tempos investigation. Parliamentary criticism, intra‑party disputes over policy, and renewed media scrutiny suggest growing pressure on Mitsotakis as the election campaign approaches.
