Greek private islands for sale amid diverse regional tourism

Several private islands in Greece are currently on the market, particularly in the Halkidiki and Kavala regions. Prices for islands in Halkidiki range from approximately €3 million to €11 million. The Spalatronisi island, located near Neos Marmaras, is the most expensive in that area due to its 108,000 square meter size, which allows for the construction of villas or a hotel complex. In the Kavala area, smaller islands like Xeronisi are listed for just over €3 million. Additionally, the Argyronisos island in the northern Aegean Sea is for sale for €35 million.

Prospective buyers face complex legal procedures, requiring 32 different permits and approvals for property transfers, including difficult clearances from the Archaeological Service.

Beyond real estate, Greece's diverse island geography offers distinct travel experiences. The Ionian Islands in the west, including Corfu, Zakynthos, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Lefkada, Paxos, and Kythira, are noted for their lush greenery, Venetian architectural influences, and Mediterranean landscapes. In contrast, the Aegean Sea to the east contains over 200 inhabited islands.
