Greek program “Δημοκρατία” airs episodes on Cyprus 1974 and Nikos Zachariadis

On Saturday, 1 August, the Greek television program “Δημοκρατία” broadcast an episode focusing on Nikos Zachariadis, the controversial leader of the Greek Communist Party. The segment examined myths and facts about his role in the civil war and the personal contradictions that, according to the producers, drove the nation toward internal conflict.

The following day, Sunday, 2 August, the show aired a documentary titled “Cyprus 1974 – Order of Return”. It presented newly released material and testimonies from participants and experts, analysing why Cyprus remained helpless after the 1974 crisis and why certain missions were never carried out. Both episodes were promoted as an exhaustive look at pivotal moments in recent Greek and Cypriot history.
