Greek prosecutor seeks trial of ex‑minister Triantopoulos, ex‑governor Agora over Tempi crash

Supreme Court prosecutor Dimitris Mitroulias has submitted an indictment to the Judicial Council of the Special Court for Ministers (Article 86). The proposal asks that former deputy minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Triantopoulos and former Thessaly regional governor Kostas Agorastos be referred to trial for breach of duty in connection with the illegal alteration of the railway‑accident site of the Tempi disaster (February 28 2023). The indictment also includes three senior fire‑service officials and three lower‑ranking fire‑service staff, the latter whose files Mitroulias seeks to separate and for whom he recommends dismissal from the charge. The Council, expected to meet in the autumn, will decide whether to convene Greece’s first Special Court to hear the case. Parallel investigations continue into former Transport Minister Kostas A. Karamanlis and other former ministry officials for similar violations.
