Greek public figures condemn Instagram posts amid deadly wildfires
Journalist Nanna Palaitskaki used TikTok to denounce Instagram posts that she said were insensitive while Greece battles severe wildfires that have already claimed lives, including three firefighters. She urged public personalities to show greater sensitivity, stating, “Leave Instagram alone for a day, the world is angry.”
Singer Eleftheria Eleftheriou also reacted on Instagram, condemning owners who abandon pets during the fires. She posted, “They left them condemned. I am sad and ashamed for our kind,” and called for accountability for those who leave animals tied up in burning homes.
Both figures highlighted the contrast between glamorous social‑media displays and the national tragedy, calling for more responsible communication during the crisis.
