Greek ready-to-eat meal market reaches 1 billion euros
The ready-to-eat meal market in Greece has become a significant sector of the retail economy, reaching a turnover of 1 billion euros. This growth is driven by changing consumer lifestyles and an increasing need for time-saving solutions.
According to research by IELKA, the percentage of consumers purchasing ready-cooked meals from supermarkets has nearly doubled over the last decade, rising from 16% in 2016 to a projected 29% in 2026. Supermarket chains are strategically investing in these departments to expand their role from mere raw ingredient suppliers to providers of complete nutritional solutions, aiming to increase shopping frequency and basket size.
