Greek Red Cross launches summer sea patrols with Coast Guard in Thessaloniki

The Greek Red Cross (ΕΛ. Ερυθρός Σταυρός) has begun preventive sea patrols along the beaches of Peraias and Agia Triada in the Thessaloniki region, operating in cooperation with the national Coast Guard. Specialized volunteer lifeguard crews and rescue vessels conduct continuous monitoring throughout the summer, especially on high‑traffic days, to provide immediate assistance and improve swimmer safety. The patrols are part of the Red Cross’s broader summer prevention programme and include public reminders on safe swimming practices and prompt reporting of incidents to authorities.

The initiative aims to reduce accidents, protect lives at sea, and coordinate closely with the coastal authority for rapid response to emergencies.
