Greek Red Cross volunteers provide medical aid on wildfire fronts across Greece
The Greek Red Cross (Ελληνικός Ερυθρός Σταυρός) has deployed multi‑layered volunteer teams—including Samaritans‑Rescuers, nursing staff, rescue vehicles and mobile health units—to work continuously alongside fire‑fighting services on the country's major wildfire fronts. Teams operate in locations such as Porto Germeño, Nerantziés in Aigialeia, Domvraina and Xironomi in Boeotia, and Kompoti in Arta, delivering first aid, health care, and essential supplies to firefighters and residents while assisting the safe evacuation of people from threatened areas.
The volunteers also tend to domestic animals at risk and have issued a public appeal urging citizens not to leave pets or livestock locked in fire‑prone zones during evacuations. They call for community support in gathering food and medical equipment for those affected by the fires.
