Greek restaurant federation meets Finance Deputy on tax relief proposals

The Panhellenic Federation of Restaurants and Related Professions (POESE) held a working meeting with Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Dimitris Markopoulos. POESE was represented by President George Kavatthas, Vice‑President Tasos Giatrass and General Secretary Sotiris Kotsampas.

The meeting focused on four core requests: restoring a 13% VAT rate for the catering sector, abolishing the special consumption tax on coffee, exempting delivery, telephone and electronic orders from the tax on goods, and removing extra social‑security contributions for work on holidays, nights and Sundays. Participants noted that many of the proposed measures could be implemented without additional fiscal costs and would help business sustainability and employment. POESE said it will submit a detailed memorandum of its proposals shortly.
