Greek schools implement emotional intelligence programs

Educational initiatives focused on emotional intelligence and empathy have been implemented in Greek schools.

At the 7th Kindergarten in Heraklion, sociologist Maria Karampela led an activity titled ‘Learning Empathy – We Love with Our Hands’. Using puppet theater, drawing, and crafts, children learned to recognize emotions, understand the perspectives of others, and prevent school bullying. The program emphasized using hands for helping and sharing rather than causing harm.

In Trikala, the 6th Primary School held an experiential emotional education session to mark World Mental Health Day. Led by psychologist Georgia Govina from Trikala General Hospital, the program helped students across all grades recognize, express, and manage their emotions. The initiative aimed to foster a safe school environment through mutual respect and effective communication skills.
