Greek smuggling suspect threatens customs inspectors in Thasos

Authorities in Greece arrested a man suspected of involvement in a smuggling operation after he threatened customs inspectors from the Kavala customs office. The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) had frozen the suspect's bank account as part of the investigation. When the suspect learned his funds were blocked, he called the inspectors and warned that he would send "known thugs" from Kavala to force compliance, saying they would "search for his house".

The inspectors reported the threats to police, and the suspect was taken into custody during a self‑reporting operation. He was later released pending a later court date, with the legal proceedings to be scheduled in the future.
