Greek State overdue debts reach 3.55 billion euros

The Greek State’s overdue debts to private entities have reached 3.55 billion euros when including pending tax refunds. According to data from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, state arrears stood at 2.762 billion euros in June, a decrease of 237 million euros compared to May.

When accounting for 788 million euros in outstanding tax refunds, the total amount owed to suppliers, retirees, and taxpayers totals 3.55 billion euros. This represents an increase of 251 million euros during the first half of the year compared to December 2025.

Public hospitals remain a significant contributor to these debts, owing 1.305 billion euros to suppliers, though this figure decreased by 214 million euros from May. Additionally, Social Security Organizations owe 715 million euros, primarily due to delays in issuing supplementary pensions, while Local Government Organizations owe 333 million euros.
