Greek Student Housing Allowance Applications Open Until July 31
The Ministry of Education has opened the online platform for the 2025‑2026 student housing allowance, accepting applications until Friday, 31 July 2026. Applicants must log in with their TAXISnet credentials to submit the request through https://stegastiko.minedu.gov.gr.
Eligibility is limited to Greek citizens or EU nationals who are enrolled in an undergraduate program, hold a valid academic ID, have an active tax number, and are tax residents of Greece. Household income must not exceed €40,000, with an additional €3,000 allowance for each dependent child beyond the first. The applicant (or the parent/guardian who claims the student as a protected member) must rent a dwelling separate from their primary residence.
The allowance amount varies by location and tenancy type: €500 for single renters in Athens or Thessaloniki, €2,000 for shared accommodation in those cities, €2,000 for single renters elsewhere, and €2,500 for shared accommodation outside the major cities. Specific exclusions apply, such as students pursuing a second degree, those exceeding the standard study period, or those residing in university dormitories.
