Greek students protest school safety and infrastructure failures

Greek students have launched protests to demand improved safety and better conditions within the national education system. Members of the Student Coordinating Committee of Athens have highlighted severe infrastructure failures and chronic deficiencies in schools across the country.

Reports from October indicate several incidents involving structural collapses, including falling plaster and tiles at schools in Koridallos, Patras, Lamia, and Vasilika. In Lamia, a partial roof collapse resulted in four students being hospitalized. Other incidents include injuries to students due to falling debris and the evacuation of the Gravas school complex due to an unidentified odor.

The student movement is part of a broader wave of educational activism seen across Europe, with similar large-scale mobilizations occurring in France, Belgium, and Albania.
