Greek summer search trends show rise in travel and air conditioning
A new study by Aurora Digital Marketing analyzing approximately 800,000 monthly Google searches reveals the summer habits of Greeks for the 2026 season. The data shows that travel and beach-related products dominate consumer interest, accounting for roughly 75% of total searches.
Ferry tickets emerged as the most popular individual search category, with an estimated 204,100 searches per month. Other significant trends include a rise in searches for sunscreen (+17.3%) and ice cream (+14.7%). The research also highlights a shift in how people manage indoor temperatures: searches for air conditioning increased by 22.1% over the past year, while searches for fans dropped by 30.6%.
Planning for summer appears to begin months in advance, with sunglasses searches rising in March and tickets and sunscreen searches increasing in April. Travel preferences vary by destination; for example, 72% of searches for Crete involve flights, whereas searches for islands like Tinos and Aegina focus almost exclusively on ferry travel.
