Greek Super League Reclassifies Some Non‑EU Players as Community B‑Zone

Starting this season, the Stoiximan Super League will no longer count footballers from certain non‑EU nations as foreign players. Instead, they are classified as community B‑zone players, freeing up foreign‑player slots for clubs.

The change applies to athletes from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and a total of 26 third‑country states that have EU association agreements, including Albania, Serbia, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and Turkey. Under the new rule, Moroccan midfielder Anas Zarouris of Panathinaikos and players such as Agium El Kabi of Olympiacos can be registered without occupying a foreign‑player position.

The adjustment is based on EU law rather than a new decision by the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) and is expected to give Greek clubs greater flexibility in squad planning and future transfers.
