Greek Swimmers Excel in National Artistic Championships and Toroniou Marathon

The national artistic swimming championships were held in Athens on 26 August, where the Heraklion Swimming Club (KΟΗ) secured titles in the Children‑Girls B’ and K8‑K9 categories and placed second overall in the A’ division, earning a total of five gold and several silver medals across the age groups.

In the open‑water arena, the 56th Toroniou Gulf crossing was completed by George Douvas, a rescue‑team member from Kalamata. Douvas swam the 26‑kilometre route from Kallithea (Kassandra) to Niki (Sithonia) in 9 hours 30 minutes despite strong winds, currents and waves, highlighting the demanding nature of this historic marathon swim.
