Greek SYRIZA faces leadership turmoil as members demand explanations

PASOK KPE secretary Giannis Vardakastanis told a radio program that the ELAS coalition resembles the 2023‑era SYRIZA and emphasized that PASOK remains deeply rooted in Greek society. He criticised poll methodologies, highlighted the party’s plan to mobilise over 3,500 activists nationwide and announced the upcoming presentation of roughly 70% of its candidates.

SYRIZA MP Nikos Pappas raised concerns over the party’s recent leadership decisions, urging the party’s leader Sokratis Famelos to publicly explain the implications of a recent Central Committee resolution. Pappas questioned the activity of the party’s press secretary Kostas Zachariadis, noted SYRIZA’s drop from 10% to 2% in the polls, and called for a timely agreement with former prime minister Alexis Tsipras.

Both politicians called for collective discussion within their parties to address strategic direction ahead of upcoming elections.
