Nissos Sifnos Marathi drone attack Novorossiysk Caspian Pipeline Consortium

In the early hours of Thursday 30 July 2026 two Greek‑owned oil tankers were struck by unmanned aerial drones near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal at Novorossiysk in the Black Sea. The Marshall Islands‑flagged Nissos Sifnos, operated by Okeanis Eco Tankers (Alafouzos family), was loading Kazakhstan crude from Tengizchevroil at Single Point Mooring 3 when it was hit at about 01:48 Moscow time. A fire ignited near the intake line but was quickly extinguished by the crew with help from three CPC support vessels. The Isle of Man‑flagged Marathi, owned by Dynacom Tankers (George Prokopios), was about six nautical miles from the terminal and also suffered a drone strike that caused a fire, though damage details remain limited. No crew members were injured or killed on either vessel and no oil spill or marine pollution was recorded. CPC temporarily halted loading operations at SPM 3 for safety inspections and called the attacks “terrorist” actions that threaten the security of the international energy supply, noting the terminal transports roughly 80 % of Kazakhstan’s oil exports.
