Santorini and Naxos businesses face penalties following tax inspections

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has conducted targeted inspections in high-traffic tourist areas of Greece, resulting in significant penalties and business suspensions in Santorini and Naxos.

In Santorini, three businesses faced 48-hour operational suspensions due to the failure to issue 17 receipts totaling approximately 35,154 euros. Notable violations included a well-known event restaurant that failed to issue a 19,700 euro invoice, a mini-market with a missing 15,300 euro invoice, and another restaurant that failed to issue 15 receipts.

In Naxos, inspections focused on short-term property rentals. Authorities identified 97 instances of non-issuance of receipts, with a total value of 118,795.45 euros, leading to various fines.

The AADE stated that these intensive inspections are ongoing and utilize digital tools and data cross-referencing to detect tax evasion and improve fiscal compliance in popular tourist destinations.
