Greek teachers face disciplinary action over union activity

Teachers Dimitris Hartzoulakis and Chrysa Chotzoglou are facing disciplinary action in Greece that could lead to their permanent dismissal. The proceedings follow their participation in protests against school evaluations in Piraeus, an action taken in alignment with collective decisions from teacher unions such as OLME and ELME.

Reports indicate that Chrysa Chotzoglou was placed on potential leave for 18 months following an intervention by Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis. Similar measures are being pursued regarding Dimitris Hartzoulakis. Union organizations are calling for their full exoneration and are organizing mobilization efforts in response to what they describe as the targeting of union activity within the public education sector.
