Greek theater festivals announce upcoming productions in Elis and Dodona

The 36th Ancient Elis Festival will feature a new theatrical adaptation of ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ directed by Harry Roma. Scheduled for August 27, 2026, at the Ancient Elis Theater, the production follows Dorothy and her companions on their magical journey through Oz. The performance aims to combine humor and emotion through modern staging, including elaborate sets, costumes, music, and dance.

Additionally, the Dodona Stage will present the comedy ‘Zitetai Pseftis’ (Wanted: A Liar) by Dimitris Psathas at the Fronzon Theater on August 27. Directed by Dimitris Katsanos, this production serves as the conclusion of a free summer tour. The play explores themes of political promises and corruption, acting as a social commentary on power and deception.
