Greek theaters launch new Hamlet and Macbeth productions
Theatre Βεάκη will stage a new production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, directed by Δημήτρης Καραντζά with Στεφανία Γουλιώτη in the title role. The performances begin on 19 December and feature a modern reinterpretation that explores themes of identity, authority and resistance.
A separate production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, directed by Κατερίνα Ευαγγελάτου, will premiere on 13 November. Lead actors Γιώργος Γάλλος and Καρυοφυλλιά Καραμπέτη headline the show, which will be presented at the Θέατρο Κατερίνα Βασιλάκου‑Μαριάννα Τόλη. Pre‑sale tickets open on 30 July, with a limited early‑bird allocation for the first month of performances.
Both projects are part of a renewed focus on classic Shakespeare dramas in Greece, involving extensive creative teams of designers, musicians and stage technicians.
