Greek theatre debut of “White Nights of a Clown” directed by Giannis Zouganelis
The new stage production “White Nights of a Clown” written by Vasilis Katsis opened at the Mavli Theatre in Athens on 19 October, with performances scheduled every Tuesday. The play is directed and musically composed by Giannis Zouganelis and features Manos Vakousis and Maria Papalamprou in the lead roles, supported by Euthymios Georgopoulos. Video‑art elements were contributed by several artists, adding a multimedia dimension to the performance.
The work adapts Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novella “White Nights”, re‑imagining a forgotten clown who meets a woman that reflects his unfulfilled desires. The production explores themes of loneliness, imagination and hope, balancing humor with emotional depth.
