Greek traffic authorities expand camera network in Attica and impose temporary highway closures near Arta
The Attica Regional Traffic Directorate announced a rollout of new traffic‑monitoring cameras across central road corridors and multiple municipalities, including Aigaleo, Peristeri, Piraeus, Nikaia, and the airport access routes. The placements target high‑traffic arteries and known speed‑violation hotspots to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians.
Separately, the Police Directorate of Arta issued temporary traffic restrictions on the Ionia Odos highway to enable the installation of a metal support structure and a new variable‑message sign. The measures involve full lane closures in both directions between specific interchanges, with detours routed via the national road between Arta and Ioannina and through the provincial road of Kampi‑Pente Pigadion. The restrictions are scheduled for early June 2026 and will be lifted after the works are completed.
