On 29 July 2026 Croatia carried out a coordinated maritime safety operation called Safe Navigation 2026 (SIGURNA PLOVIDBA 2026) across all eight harbour‑master offices. The eight‑hour action, running from 10:00 to 18:00, involved 115 harbour‑authority officers, 35 patrol vessels and covered 1 441 nautical miles.

Inspectors performed 382 checks, identified 182 breaches of maritime regulations and issued fines of €79 208.49, of which €44 884.24 was collected on the spot. Violations included invalid vessel documents, crew‑qualification gaps, passenger‑boat over‑loading, illegal discharge of black and grey wastewater and failure to report through the CIMIS system. The Vessel Traffic Service supplied real‑time information, and staff also carried out emergency medical transports, mainly in the Zadar and Split harbour areas, while monitoring swimmers and divers for unsafe behaviour.
