Greek utility DEI keeps green electricity tariff steady despite wholesale price surge

The Public Power Corporation (DEI) announced that its green household electricity tariff for August remains unchanged at €0.138 per kWh (€0.123 in low‑consumption zones) even though the wholesale electricity price rose by about 18% to €109.95 per MWh in July. DEI is absorbing the higher wholesale cost, providing a short‑term cushion for households and small businesses while putting pressure on its profit margins.

The company also detailed rates for its other tariff categories: fixed‑price “blue” plans are set between €0.141 and €0.145 per kWh, the variable “yellow” tariff is €0.154 per kWh for August, and dynamic pricing options remain available for customers with smart meters. By holding the green tariff steady, DEI aims to limit immediate inflationary pressure on consumers amid a period of volatile energy markets.
